Pectus Webinar: Diagnosis and Management
Introduction
Pectus Webinar: Diagnosis and Management is a webinar that provides
an overview of chest wall anomalies from initial presentation,
evaluation, surgical and non-surgical treatment and care. Pectus
Excavatum and Pectus Carinatum will be reviewed as well as the advanced
practice provider’s unique role in the authors’ experience of
establishing an independent bracing clinic. Content will also include
recent updates and newest developments in this field. The course is
applicable to the advanced practice provider as well as the nurse who
helps care for any child with chest wall anomalies.
Faculty

Kim McHard APRN, MSN, CPNP-PC
Kim
is a nurse practitioner with the Department of General Pediatric
Surgery, working at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She
maintains an independent clinic for chest wall anomalies such as Pectus
Excavatum and Pectus Carinatum. She coordinates the multi-disciplinary
team meetings and participates in research with the Center for Pectus
and Chest Wall Anomalies. Along with this, she provides care to
pediatric general surgery patients, as well as precepting new providers
and teaching learners of all levels. She has served multiple roles in
both the NAPNAP and APSNA organizations for many years.

Beth Orrick APRN, FNP-BC
Beth
is a nurse practitioner working at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas
City, Missouri. She is currently working in the ambulatory surgery
clinic serving general pediatric surgery and pectus patients. She has
been the Co-chair for the Chest Wall Anomalies Special Interest Group
for APSNA since 2018. She works to educate through research and
publications and is involved in many ongoing projects. She has
presented nationally and locally and has numerous publications in
peer-reviewed journals on pectus and the pediatric general surgery
population.

Amy Pierce APRN, PPCNP-BC
Amy
is a nurse practitioner working at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas
City, Missouri. She is currently working in ambulatory clinic serving
general pediatric surgery patients. She has been the Co-chair for the
Chest Wall Anomalies Special Interest Group for APSNA since 2018. She
works to educate through serving as a preceptor and has presented at the
national level many times, to highlight her research, practice and
publications. She also serves her community through volunteerism in
several outreach programs.
